TRF trip to Stella Alpina – Europe’s Highest Motorcycle meet

Thank you for you interest in the TRF and in particular the Herts and North London group which I am proud to chair.  We are totally committed to trail and adventure riding. Herts group is the largest (& best :-) )group in the UK with over 300 active members.

Getting advice from other members is one of the great benefits of being in the TRF helping you choose anything from a new bike, accessories, riding kit or what you should take with you when you ride. You will also find members are happy to pass-on the benefit of their experience to help you improve your riding and navigation skills. Have a chat with a few members, or via our Facebook page before major purchases such as a bike and tyres.

We ride all of Hertfordshire and the surrounding counties and other areas such as Devon, Peak District, Isle of Man and Wales. As well as riding in the UK we also travel abroad to ride. We ride a eclectic mix of bikes from gentle trail bikes to full on enduro bikes, quads to big heavy off roaders such as the GS1200. We ride all year round and sometimes at night. Whatever type of riding you want to do we can accommodate you. There are usually rides every week and at least 1 Beginners ride every month, starting from different points around the county. We have members of all ages, both male and female.

Road Conservation (RC) is the foremost concern of the TRF and we usually have 2 to 3 ongoing cases at anyone time with the TRF defending our members rights. Herts TRF are particularly strong on RC with a team of RC officers leading the way and pride ourselves on excellent relationships with the councils and other ROW (Rights of Way) groups whom we hold in respect. Contrary to misinformed opinion the number of rideable lanes is not falling. – several “new” lanes have been discovered and made useable for our members.

The TRF as a national organisation was founded in Hertfordshire with the inaugural meeting being held at the Valiant Trooper in Tring in 1970. Nationally in the UK the TRF use around 3000 miles of byways and green lanes of which 125 miles are right here in Hertfordshire and more across the wider North London area.

Our route leaders and sweepers are very experienced including ex police motorcyclists and enduro competition riders, which keeps our rides professional, steady, smooth and progressive. No one gets left behind on a ride… ever.

We look forward to seeing you on of our rides.
